The process is self limiting, such that the resultant microelectrodes formed are no more than 4 microns in diameter, well within the 10 micron limit for effective micoelectrodes.

The picture opposite is a from a scanning electron microscope showing the electrodes formed by the Ultrasonic cavitation.

Typical microelectrode densities of 70,000 per square cm.
